“Knowledge empowers individuals to navigate obstacles more effectively, ultimately enhancing wellbeing and happiness.”
Kelly became the owner of Muskegon Flourishing Minds after years of dedicated work supporting children, families, and the Muskegon community. She brings a deep well of experience to the practice, shaped by her background as a school social worker, where she administered assessments to help identify learning needs and support student success.
Before stepping into ownership, Kelly also contributed her expertise to Chris Jansen‑Yee, PsyD & Associates, where she helped update and administer psychological testing and assessments. Continuing this work remains an important part of her vision for Muskegon Flourishing Minds. She understands how essential accurate diagnosis is in guiding effective, compassionate treatment planning.
Kelly believes strongly in the power of psychoeducation to help individuals and families better understand their mental health and foster meaningful growth. She specializes in diagnosing and treating Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Relational Disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
As a parent of two, Kelly understands firsthand the everyday challenges families face. She is passionate about advocating for and supporting families both inside and outside the therapy room, creating a space where people feel understood, cared for, and empowered.

Lucinda has been a cherished member of our clinical team, and after many years of devoted service to her clients and the Muskegon community, she will be retiring in September to travel and spend meaningful time with her family.
As Muskegon Flourishing Minds continues to grow, Lucinda has expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve here and for the trust placed in her throughout her career. She shares, “I appreciate the opportunities I’ve been given to enter private practice and to continue serving my clients and community.”
Lucinda brings 37 years of experience in elementary and special education, Child and Family Counseling, pastoral leadership, parent education, grief counseling, and clinical practice. She holds a Trauma Across the Life Span specialization and remains committed to ongoing trauma‑informed training. Her professional passions include the interconnectedness of the brain, body, attachment, and trauma.
Known for her compassionate, client‑centered approach, Lucinda meets individuals exactly where they are and helps them move from surviving to truly thriving. She is also a lifelong advocate for peace, justice, inclusion, and compassion; values she lives out both in her work and in the community.
Lucinda is deeply appreciative of the support of her husband, her two grown sons, and their partners. Outside the office, she continues her advocacy for peace, justice, nonviolence, and dignity for all people, regardless of race, religion, social circumstance, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
As she prepares for retirement, Lucinda looks forward to new adventures, travel, and cherished time with her family; carrying with her the profound impact she has made at Muskegon Flourishing Minds and in the lives of those she has served.

“My true passion is to work with victims of trauma and travel with them through a journey of healing.”
Dan joined the clinical team at Muskegon Flourishing Minds to support the practice’s continued growth and to deepen his work providing trauma‑informed therapy in the community where he grew up. Dan has spent 25 years in the social work profession, beginning his career as a mentor for teens in foster care. Over the years, he has worked with homeless youth, adults with mental illness, and individuals involved in the criminal justice system—helping bridge the gap between law enforcement and adults navigating mental health challenges.
His passion lies in supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, helping them heal from the lasting impact trauma can leave behind. Dan is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and MTREM (Male Trauma Recovery Empowerment Model).
Outside the office, Dan is a devoted husband and father. His wife and family have been steadfast supporters throughout his many years of work and study. Dan also coaches baseball, investing in his sons and in the youth of the community he cares deeply about.

Bernadette has over 30+ years of experience providing individual and group psychotherapy. Her areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, grief, impulse control issues, as well as individual and interpersonal growth and understanding. She has had extensive training and experience using many therapy models which focus on gaining insight and understanding as well as the more directive approaches which focus on disruptive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in the present moment. She works with each patient to understand what they want and need (as well as what they don’t), to establish personalized treatment objectives. She provides a warm, supportive, nonjudgmental space that allows her patients to look honestly at one’s own feelings and fears yet feel safe enough to explore.
